Dr Nick Hayward MA (Cantab) MNatSci MBBS PhD
Nick’s scientific career began as Intel UK Young Scientist of the Year 2002 aged just 18, awarded for presenting his industry chemistry project for drug design. He became an Intel ISEF Grand Award winner in 2002 and has a planet named after him.
As a Cambridge University Natural Scientist, Nick specialised in biochemistry and molecular biology. His university research continued with a PhD in neurobiology and brain imaging at the University of Eastern Finland. His desire to share research widely grew, with many international conference opportunities along the way.
The clinical roles of Nick’s research inspired him towards medicine, next completing graduate entry medicine at Imperial College London. He graduated with Starred Distinctions in both medicine and surgery. His clinical roles in the UK and New Zealand span prehospital medicine, anaesthesia, critical care, and radiology (medical imaging).
Continuing with research and presentations, Nick has many publications.
Nick has several university appointments and is currently based at Oxford University Hospitals, UK. He has led a clinical trial and supports companies with translational clinical technologies/medtech research.
Beyond healthcare, Nick enjoys a variety of sports, cinema and comedy.
